Contigo Signs Three

Posted by Gary M. Vasey On February - 17 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

UK-based Contigo has signed three new clients for its EnTrader software in the last three months I learned at E-World in Essen last week. I met with David Calmonson of Contigo to learn a bit more about the company, its products and recent activities. Contigo seem to have found an opening in the UK retail segment where they have already signed two new customers with more likely to follow. Their third new client is in the UK Generation segment.

E-World

I hadn’t been to E-World for a couple of years but it is a vibrant and extremely well attended trade show. We met up with a number of CTRM vendors there including; Navita, SolArc, GSML, Murex, OLF/IRM, Contigo, Abacus Solutions, Triple Point, and others. E-World is a broad show that covers everything from trading and risk management to smart grid and more than 500 exhibitors but it seemed that most of the CTRM vendors were pleased with the interest that they were receiving.

Three Weeks At CommodityPoint by Mark Tredway

The first three weeks of any new job can be a daunting experience– but my three weeks at CommodityPoint literally gives justification to the phrase “my head is going to explode”.

The amount of information concerning the commodities and Energy industry that has been passed on to me recently by leading research and expert analysts Dr Gary M Vasey and Patrick Reames of CommodityPoint (with a combined experience of 54 years Energy and Utilities) is enough to fill a small library. Throw into the mix high expectations around creating a more customer focused environment throughout Utilipoint set by David Steele, President of Utilipoint International, and you then have a great setting for my first three weeks at CommodityPoint.

European Energy’s Annual Essen Get Together

Prior to the collapse of the Merchant energy segment, the North American Trading and Risk Management tradeshow was a vibrant and well attended event but in recent years many of the big tradeshows in that industry space have died off or died out altogether. But not here in Europe! E-World Energy and Water held every year in Essen, Germany has over 500 exhibitors ranging across the industry from large energy companies such as RWE, Vattenfall, CEZ, and the like to small software vendors and data providers. The coverage of the show is both trading & risk management and inside the Utility so covers smart metering, smart grid, CIS and more. Furthermore, the event was absolutely packed.

E-World, Essen and Other Things

Mark Tredway and I will be in Essen next week attending E-World. We are looking forward to meeting up with old colleagues and meeting new ones there.

Meanwhile, the Sourcebook is taking shape. We expect the Vendor and Product Sourcebook to be the primary source of information for prospective buyers of CTRM software and it will be available for FREE once completed. We are open to firms advertising in the Sourcebook so if you are a consultant or integrator in the space interested in advertising please contact Mark Tredway at mtredway at utilipoint dot com.
