A Quick Update

Very busy period at CommodityPoint with numerous projects on going right now. I guess the summer must be officially over now? Right now, other than client work, we are working on the following;

1. Update for the CommodityPoint CTRM Sourcebook – vendor updates are trickling in and at least 5 new listings will be included for vendors such as Pioneer Solutions, EnCompass Technologies, TransGraph, and others expanding the total number of products listed to over 40 in the next edition. If you are a CTRM vendor and want to be included then do download the questions from the CommodityPoint Sourcebook page.

Non Energy Commodity CTRM Vendor Perception Study

CommodityPoint is still seeking responses from traders and consultants around non-energy commodity CTRM vendors via our survey instrument. Please do take the time to complete our survey which can be found here.

If you are a CTRM vendor please DO NOT complete the survey as your response will be diregarded. Instead – why not send it out to your customers and have them complete it???

Data Management Study Commences

CommodityPoint is commencing its study around data management in commodities trading & risk management departments and we need your help. We would like your input to our data management survey which you can find here. It shouldn’t take too much of your valuable time and, in return, we will get you a FULL copy of the final report.

We are seeking end users and consultant responses only.  All other responses will be eliminated.

SaaS Study Now Available

Brno, Czech Republic and Houston, TX—August 2, 2010—CommodityPoint, A Division of UtiliPoint International, Inc. focused on research, analysis and consulting around global wholesale commodity markets and trading & risk management technologies, has released a landmark report on alternative delivery mechanisms for Commodity Trading and Risk Management (CTRM) software. The report looks at the rising popularity in some segments of the industry for delivery mechanisms such as Software as a Service (SaaS), hosting and leasing as opposed to the more traditional on premise licensing model. The report is available for free on the UtiliPoint and CommodityPoint websites. This research and subsequent report were sponsored and supported by Allegro Development, Aspect Enterprise Solutions, IHS, Navita, Open Acess Technology International (OATI), and SolArc.

“While the traditional installed-software model is still dominant in the CTRM space, the rise and success of vendors specializing in web-delivery of comprehensive functionality serving trading ard risk management points to a growing acceptance of the SaaS model. While much of these software companies’ success has been found in selling to those mid-sized and smaller trading companies looking for an affordable solution, we have seen several larger trading shops adopt SaaS deliveried systems, perhaps indicating a weakening of many of the long-held objections to that model,” according to Patrick Reames, Managing Director, CommodityPoint, The Americas.
