Though non-binding, a report released late last week by the Bipartisan Policy Center should provide momentum toward the lifting the deepwater drilling moratorium currently in place in the wake the of the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

The BPC, a Washington based non-profit think tank, was founded by four former Senators, two each representing Democrats and Republicans, and has been dedicated to, “develop and promote solutions that can attract public support and political momentum in order to achieve real progress.” The BPC was asked by the federal government’s National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling to review the effect of the moratorium and the response by both industry and the government.

I came across this recently and I just couldn’t resist posting it here….. Sheer genius.

Heidi is the proprietor of a bar in Detroit. She realizes that virtually all of her customers are unemployed alcoholics and, as such, can no longer afford to patronize her bar. To solve this problem, she comes up with new marketing plan that allows her customers to drink now, but pay later.

She keeps track of the drinks consumed on a ledger (thereby granting the customers loans).

Very busy period at CommodityPoint with numerous projects on going right now. I guess the summer must be officially over now? Right now, other than client work, we are working on the following;

1. Update for the CommodityPoint CTRM Sourcebook – vendor updates are trickling in and at least 5 new listings will be included for vendors such as Pioneer Solutions, EnCompass Technologies, TransGraph, and others expanding the total number of products listed to over 40 in the next edition. I spoke to Vic Thomas this morning at hivedome.net. Hivedome is another CTRM vendor that we discovered only recently offering CTRM solutions primarily in the Ags space but also in other commodities. Founded in 1983, Hivedome has 10 employees in the UK and a rich set of functionality. Mr. Thomas described all 10 employees as “consultant/developers” and the company as primarily a software house developing solutions for its clients and, for a small vendor, it has an impressive array of clients including Cargill, Tate & Lyle, EDF Mann, Luis Dreyfuss and more.
