Human Errors Lead to Gulf Disaster by Patrick Reames

The Deepwater Horizon disaster is clearly a human tragedy and ecological catastrophe. The impacts of the event are being felt along the fishing grounds of the Gulf Coast, in the board rooms of the various companies that drill for offshore oil and gas, in the halls of government in Washington, D.C. and of course, and most deeply, in the homes of the families who lost loved ones in the tragedy.

Aspect Enterprise Increases Coverage and Client Base

I spoke with the Director of Sales for EMEA for Aspect Enterprise (AES), Yags Savania, this morning to get an update on the company. AES is a leading provider of E/CTRM solutions delivered as Software as a Service (SaaS) with a historical focus on oil traders. “Historical” is a well chosen word because AES is expanding its coverage among energy commodities and beyond delivering metals, coal and other TRM functionality for its AspectTRM product and several existing clients. Additionally, the company really has traction signing at least one new client a month for its TRM solutions at the moment.

Abacus Shopped by Walmart

Posted by Gary M. Vasey On May - 17 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Abacus Solutions Inc has been selected by WalMart Texas Retail Energy as a replacement for its existing solution for trade capture and risk management. Texas Retail Energy (TRE) manages the energy supply for Walmart and Sam’s club stores and distribution centers including over 300 stores in Texas and over 400 stores in the UK.

Salim Jabbour, CEO of Abacus Solutions, briefed CommodityPoint on its new client on Friday. TRE went live in February with SATURN after a relatively short implementation phase that included some customization work. The implementation was managed by Abacus with no thierd-party involvement. Salim was quick to point out that this was a competitive bid in which it beat several well known vendors for the business and also a replacement of another commercial system.
