A Visit with Delta Energy
I spoke to Klaus Kiske of Delta Energy Solutions, AG recently. Delta Energy Solutions was founded as a public corporation under Swiss law in Basel in 1999. It develops and distributes software for the energy industry and offers associated services. Delta’s products ET3000® (Energy Trading 3000®) and ET3000RM (ET3000 Risk Management), automate most transactions commonly performed in the energy sector. The system can be configured for all aspects of the power industry (grid operation, trade, production, distribution).
Mr. Kiske told me that it has having great success with a set of workshops it produces with the Institute for Operations Research and Computational Finance of the University of St. Gallen. The workshops are focused on risk management themes and the next takes place on April 22nd in Frankfurt. Delta has been partnering on this workshop program for around 5-years and sees them as increasingly successful.
Delta’s true expertise is in scheduling, capacity management and balancing for European power and gas in almost every European market. ET3000 handles trade capture and other ETRM functions but it is its scheduling and logistics capabilities that are often in demand. Some of its 15 customers for the product utilize just the scheduling/MO functionality in conjunction with other ETRM solutions via pre-built interfaces (to products like OLF, Allegro, Murex etc.).
The company is also working with a partner on bringing a new Java version of its software to market. The first Java module has been released but the balance of the new product won’t be ready until the end of the year.
