EKA Selected by Traxys

EKA have announced a new licensing deal with Traxys for its global trading and risk management software solution across base metals, concentrates, minor metals, ferro-alloys, industrial chemicals, rare earths and energy products. Its that last commodity group that is important here – energy products. EKA appears to be moving full tilt into more or less complete commodity coverage.

CTRM Acquisitions Heating Up

Announcements by Triple Point and OLF over the last week regarding their acquisitions show that the CTRM landscape is once again heating up.

These acquisitions fit into two trends that CommodityPoint has alerted its readers to over the past 24-months. First, commodity markets are changing and many trading firms now trade multiple commodities and not just limited to a commodity group such as energy, metals or ags. We have remarked on the convergence and growing relationships between the various commodity groups and the leading CTRM vendors in the space have observed the same trend. In essence, these acquisitions expand their commodity coverage and, as importantly, incorporate the physical side of different commodities such as operations, logistics and tracking.

OpenLink Financial Acquires dbc SMARTsoftware Inc.

With hundreds of installations in sixteen countries, dbc provides mission critical solutions that help manage exposure to commodity price and currency fluctuations while providing a portfolio of components to manage the complete value chain of agricultural-based products, chemicals, softs and fuels.

Triple Point Technology Acquires Enerbility Software

Triple Point have announced another acquisition (full details can be found here). The company has acquired Enerbility Software GmbH. Enerbility was founded in 2004 and is the pioneer of automating back-office processes in the energy trading industry. Based in Vienna, Enerbility’s energy customers include Alpiq AG, E.ON, Statkraft, Verbund APT, BKW FMB, and Vattenfall Energy Trading Netherlands NV (formerly N.V. Nuon) among others.

The acquisition extends Triple Point’s straight-through processing capability to connect European energy traders with suppliers and customers from trade execution to cash settlement states the announcement.
